During the Science lesson we saw a short animated film called ‘A Whale’s Tale’. In this film, a whale helps smaller sea creatures that are trapped in plastic waste. On land, a young boy seeks help to clear the sea in his area.
After watching this inspiring film, we became more aware that plastic pollution is a treat to humans and marine animals.
We took part in a brainstorming session of how to reduce plastic waste.
These were some of our ideas:
- Using paper straws
- Using metal cutlery
- Using reusable containers, lunch boxes, water bottles and bags
- Avoiding plastic packaging
- Taking part in beach cleanups
- Washing our teeth with a toothpaste that has no microbeads
- Engaging in plastic free crafts and activities
During the last part of the lesson we took part in a quiz and drew some posters regarding marine plastic pollution.
We all need to give a helping hand to beat this environmental problem.
