During Social Studies lessons we learned about the importance of the 3R’s and discussed ways on how we can practice these at home and at school. For example, we can reduce by putting our lunch in a lunchbox rather than a plastic bag, we can reuse by making something out of a cereal box and we can recycle by putting waste in the correct bins.
In class, we had an activity in which we had to reuse a milk carton and create something new. We created a pencil holder, a bird feeder, a money box and a ball game. We really enjoyed this activity because we had the opportunity to be creative. After all, a milk carton is no longer waste if it can be turned into something else. Don’t forget to wash it properly before!
So next time, before you throw away something ask yourself: Can I fix it? Can I create something with it? Am I putting it in the right bin? Don’t forget, every little helps!
